Process

The Pleasant Street Vision Study is an inclusive neighborhood-based planning effort initiated by Over-the-Rhine Community Housing.  Begun in late 2011 with the professional help of Schickel Design, and made possible through the generous support of the Finance Fund and PNC Bank, The Pleasant Street Vision Study came into being in August 2013. The participatory process included multiple input sessions as well as a fifty-person visioning Charrette, with individuals, residents and representatives from Over-the-Rhine based organizations actively participating (click here to see a list of participants).  

2004/Early 2005- ReSTOC Study

ReSTOC commishioned a study that included the same study area.  This study reiterated and supported the 2002 Over-the-Rhine Comprehensive Plan approved by the Cincinnati City Council. 

Late 2011- The Vision Study Idea is Born

The idea of doing an inclusive neighborhood-based vision study for the Pleasant Street area came from a Pre-development Study that was conducted in 2006 for the City Home Project which became a reality over the next five years. 

Spring 2012- Meeting with 3CDC

 OTRCH and Shickel Design met with 3CDC as the major property owner in the neighborhood to discuss the idea and gain their support for the vision study.  

May 30, 2012- Property Owner Meeting

A preliminary meeting was held for all of the property owners in the study area were invited to come and talk about their desires for the neighborhood.

July 28, 2012- Charette

Schickel Design and OTRCH conducted a day long charette.  All area property owners, residents and stakeholders of any kind were invited to attend.  Fifty people attended and vigorously participated in the day-long session.  Click here for more information.

October 10, 2012- Presentation

All of the charette participants and stakeholders were invited to a presentation of the preliminary vision study.  Comments and feedback from attendees was gathered and incorporated into the final vision study.

Summer 2013 - Pleasant Street Vision Study Released

After months of incorporating the community's changes and internal edits, the final Pleasant Street Vision Study was approved by the Over-the-Rhine Community Housing Board of Trustees and released to the public and presented to 3CDC.

September 23, 2013- OTR Community Council Support

The Pleasant Street Vision Study was presented to the Executive Board of the Over-the-Rhine Community Council.  The board voted to support the Vision Study.
